The silence has lingered for quite some time now, but we are back and ready to talk strength, power and training with you all. I assure you we are going no where and are here for the long haul. 3 SIMPLE POINTS TO THINK OF FOR A "BIGGER BENCH PRESS"

  1. THE SET UP - SETTING UP, NO MATTER THE LIFT, IS PROBABLY THE MOST IMPORTANT FACTOR IN EXECUTING THE BENCH PRESS PROPERLY. IF YOU START THE LIFT IN A BAD/SLACKING POSITION, YOU'VE THEN ALREADY SET YOURSELF UP FOR FAILURE. MAKE IT A POINT TO HAVE YOUR BODY AS READY AND TIGHT AS POSSIBLE TO EXECUTE THE LIFT BEFORE UN-RACKING!

  2. LEG DRIVE? - I GET THIS QUESTION ALMOST DAILY, "WELL IF I ONLY PRACTICED LEG DRIVE MORE WOULDN'T MY BENCH GO UP?" AND THE ANSWER IS YES, LEG DRIVE/OVERALL TIGHTNESS WILL INCREASE YOUR BENCH. THE ONLY PROBLEM IS THAT MOST OF THE TIME WE LOSE SIGHT IN WHAT REALLY MOVES THAT WEIGHT AROUND... OUR UPPER BODY! SO FIND A GOOD TIGHT POSITION THAT ALLOWS ADEQUATE AMOUNTS OF LEG DRIVE, BUT DONT FORGET TO WORK ON WHATS MOST IMPORTANT TO YOUR LIFT!

  3. BENCH MORE! - WE ALL WANT TO FIND THE SECRET WORKOUT THAT WILL PUT US OVER THE TOP ON OUR BENCH PRESS, TRUTH BE TOLD, JUST LIKE ANY OTHER SPORT, WHAT WILL MAKE US BETTER IS PLAYING THE SPORT. IN OUR CASE OUR SPORT IS POWERLIFTING AND BENCH PRESS HAPPENS TO BE PART OF IT! BE CONSISTENT AND DEDICATE TIME UNDER THAT BARBELL.
